Windows Update issue..

I keep having windows try to install .net 1.1 over and over again telling me
that the installation failed. But according to my installed program via the
control panel, it is installed.. In fact I have all the .net(s) installed up
to and including .net 3.5 sp1. I am at a loss on how to fix this short of
hiding the update on the windows update site. I have even tried to uninstall
all of the .net(s) to reinstall them from the ground up, but I can only seem
to uninstall down to .net 2.0. I am running windows XP home edition SP2 with
Media Center 2005 rollup. I am the only user on this machine, and I am also
the admin. for this computer as well . Any suggestions are deeply
appreciated.

1. Before doing anything else, write down the .NET Framework versions which
are already installed:

How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and
whether service packs have been applied

2. Now see Resolution Method 2 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100
(ignore the title). After running the appropriate/needed tool, (re)install
all .NET Framework versions manually using the download links on the page.
