Error 0x80070103 is the same is Win32 error 0x0103 (259 decimal), which
is ERROR_NO_MORE_ITEMS ("No more data is available"). This message
typically occurs in situations where programs, installers etc. should
not be reporting an error, or where they should report a different
error ("something not found"). I don't known what actually fails
in the latest Windows Update network card driver updates, but this
error number provides little clue in itself.
It is an unfortunate and long standing bug in Windows Update that error
numbers are not expanded to error messages automatically, requiring
expert Windows knowledge just to figure out what the error message
itself is saying.
It also unfortunate that the distribution of device drivers through
Windows Update seems to be so fragile and sloppily done (In the past,
on two of my machines I was repeatedly offered updates which either did
not install or were simply the wrong drivers for the hardware).
