error code 80073712

I have my laptop set to automatic update on but it is not installing one
important update, I tried to install it many a times but it always fails to
install ot and displays error code 80073712 with the message windows update
encountered an unknown error. But should I do..?

Hello Ashok,

The "Windows Features" dialog box is empty in Windows Vista, or you receive
an error message that includes the following code when you try to use Windows
Update: "0x80073712"
