Re: installing update KB967642 failed
Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP2) when
posting to this newsgroup.

Assuming you're referring to Office 2007 SP2...

You receive an error message when you try to install the 2007 Microsoft
Office suite service packs
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967642/

You receive an error message when you try to apply any of the 2007 Office
Service Pack 1 [or2] packages on a computer that is running Windows XP
Service Pack 2
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942101

How to investigate and resolve update installation failures for the 2007
Office system or for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954713

Also see

TIP: Insert your Office 2007 CD into the appropriate drive-bay prior to
installing these updates.

To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problem
instead of hijacking someone else's thread. State your IE version and full
Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP2) in your first post.
