Error code 80242006

Security update for IE 8 will not install. Windows Vista SP2. I keep getting
this error and it will not let me hid it or install it. I have turned off my
antivirus software along and turned off windows firewall, what gives? any
help?

Windows Vista with SP2?

Uninstall the pre-release service pack and see if that fixes things...

The caller passed an update with invalid metadata to the handler


Suggest you manually download the update -

Search for a Download

or

Error message when you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web
site or from the Microsoft Update Web site: "0x80242006"

Uninstall Vista SP2 Beta & reboot twice.
