Unsure? .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

Hello,

I recently downloaded and installed "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5
Service pack 1 Full Package" or dotnetfx35.exe without using windows
update. The install seemed to be successful.

However, now when I go to "update.microsoft.com" it says that I need to
install "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework
3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86"

*They both appear to be the same thing, but are they?* Do I need to
install the latter update or is it somehow redundant?

Installing .NET Framework 3.5 with the family pack (which was not included
in your original download will only install a few additional file plus the
"Family" update which is basically a bunch of bug fixes.

So use Windows Update and it will only install those components you need.
