Error Code 0x80070017

I have a newly formatted toshiba a40 ( ie I've just used the recovery discs)
so its a completely clean machine but I still get the above error code.

I've tried two diferent sets of discovery discs but still get the same
response.

Any help??

Im running XP Home Edition and trying to update to SP2

You cannot use Windows Update if you're running WinXP SP1 or WinXP Gold.
