Cannot /wuforce WUA to 7.2.6001.784 from version 7.2.6001.788 onWindows Server 2008
Greetings!

I am facing problem with downgrading WUA with /wuforce option on
Windows 2008 Server Ent SP1 x86-32 or Windows Vista Ent SP1 x86-32,
this works fine with Windows 2003 Server Std SP2 x86-64 endpoint.

Win-2008/Vista endpoint is having 7.2.6001.788 and I have to downgrade
it to 7.0.6000.381, but it shows error message - "Install is not
needed since Windows Update Agent is already installed", when I tried
with downgrading it to 7.1.6001.65(later than 7.0.6000.381) it worked
fine.

I am wondering if anyone has faced this problem, or know workarround.

Thanks
Pushkaraj

Why would you want to downgrade WUA?

We are getting 0x800704dd error on newer builds(7.2.6001.788 &
7.2.6001.784 ) of wua -
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...60bc9ba972de18
in our case we use normal user to login & execute command on endpoint,
it is failing even we are using Administrator user.

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

I don't know offhand, but perhaps 7.0.6000.381 is earlier than the version that
is built into Windows 2008/Vista SP1?

Harry.
