WSUS 3.0 Upgrade Client Machines very slow.

I recently upgraded the Wsus server from 2.0 to 3.0 and soon after that each
of my client machines started to become very slow. (mainly on startup)
Startup seems to take at least 10 minutes until you can do anything with the
computer. The CPU does not seem to be working too hard but the hard drive
runs a 100% for the first 5-10 minutes. During the startup the svchost file
becomes very large. After around 10 minutes the hard drive goes back down
and the computer seems to function ok but still slow at times. I have all
windows patches installed and the wsus 3.0 client installed.

Any advice would be great.
