Security update KB923723

I am running Windows XP Pro with Automatic Updates turned on. I find that over
the last month or so, the above update shows as installed well over 20 times.
Everytime automatic update runs, the yellow shield icon will again appear
showing the need for this same update.

Can anyone provide a clue on how to tell this machine this update is in fact
installed?

If it is, it's faily old. You'll see there's a section on how to get help
for the update and also known issues.
