Trying to enable Microsoft Update on Vista always led for me to IE, after
some buttons to the error 0x80070002. (Running Vista Business x86)
Tried everything -- delete SoftwareDistribution folder, regsvr32 *...
What I noticed is that my control panel applet took me to:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsof...pdate&ln=en-us
whereas on other computers it goes to:
http://update.microsoft.com/microsof....aspx?ln=en-us
Pasting this URL in my browser did not help directly (redirected to first
link).
HOWEVER:
logging out of my account and logging in to another one (administrator in my
case), using the control panel applet 'Windows Update' there again,
made IE go to the correct site and I finally could enable Microsoft Updates
on my system.
