Otherwise if you are really interested in helping yourself
instead of just complaining about your symptoms,
try seeing if there are any differences in the
CheckSUR.log and the CheckSUR.persist.log
Those files apparently get created when you download
and run the System Update Readiness Tool manually.
FWIW doing that step fixed my 0x80070002 symptoms
when trying to install Vista sp1. Using FC.exe to compare
them shows there are some unreadable characters in the
first line of the persist version; otherwise mine are the same.
However, I only ran the tool once. ; )
