Windows Update can not check for updates

Hello,

My windows update has not worked in the last few months.

When I try to run update, it says an update to update is required.

I try to install the update and then I get the following error code:

Windows could not check for updates. Error Code 80070643.

I have reviewed the error code and help and made sure that the OSE service
is running and it is . I even tried restarting it.

I still can't get the update to run.

Do you know what else it could be?

I am running Windows Vista HomePremium, AVG Anti-Virus, Comodo Firewall Pro,
and Spybot-SD. These programs have always been on the computer, even when
update worked.

I have run Microsoft Safety Scanner and it came up clean.

You receive error code 0x80070643 or error code 0x643 when you use the
Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web sites to install updates
