1) IF McAfee or Norton is the antivirus software, then you must
temporarily disable them prior to installing updates.
That means stopping all processes and services of the AV.
Consult the User Guide or their web sites to learn how this is
acommplished.
Or, you can Clean boot the system to ensure that they're no longer
interfering in the update process:

2) Install updates in groups of 5 or ten. Do the reliability and
performance updates *first*. Then the Security updates.
Install the other ones last.
