Updates

My xp computer is doing an update every tiime I shut down. Also I have to
refresh my browser window in hotmail every time I log on I use firefox.

Can't help you with Firefox. But as for the update, I would suggest visiting
the Windows Update web site to see which update(s) are on offer. Install the
ones you want, reboot, then return to the web site to see if they installed
successfully.

If the downloaded update cannot be installed at shutdown, installing it via
Windows Update will solve the problem.

If the downloaded update is not installing successfully, you'll at least be able
to see which one it is, at which point post back here for further assistance.

Check the windowsupdate.log for more clues to see what's there.

Otherwise go to the update site and manually scan and see what's offered and
install.
