Windows Update KB697715

I just started reading all of the posts about this particular KB967715 update
not working. My computer has installed the update 59 times since February 24,
2009. I was hesitant to try a safe install because all of my shortcuts on the
desk top get messed up, scattered. I will try to install the update in safe
mode and if it works for me, I will report on it.

This is a report on the Safe Mode installation of Windows Update KB967715. I
followed the process outlined by microsoft , that is downloading the update
to the desk Top, starting in Safe mode, installing the update and restarting
the PC. After this was done ,I was a little dishearted when I saw the Gold
Sheild on the task bar as had been the case for the past month. I used the
windows update web page as I always do and the computer was scanned to see if
it needed any new updates,
Ha-Ha no new updates were found to install, and the little Gold Shield was
gone-It worked-It worked. I am forever free of this pesky update--Try it--You
will like it.
