RE: Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) install fail
Out of the blue I got this need to download again? I used the autoupdate and
it fails. I go through the express and it fails I went throught the Microsoft
updates and it fails. I selected the file from the link above and here is
what I got.

"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer
than the update your applying. There is no need to install this update."
ummm what gives?

RE: Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) install fail
My computer has tried to (re)install this update several times this month (in
fact several times today alone) and it always fails (older versions have been
successfully installed in the past).

If I manually run Microsoft Updates, it tells me KB905474 has been
downloaded and is ready to install. However, it fails when I run the
installation.

When trying to run the link from Robin Walker / TaurArian I too recevied the
message:
"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of this system is newer
than the update you are applying. There is no need to install this update."

Consequently, I constantly get the notification:
"Updates are ready for your computer. Click here to install these updates."
and everytime I turn my computer off KB905474 keeps trying and failing to
install.

Is there a solution?

RE: Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) install fail
Solved!

I suddenly thought that the same basic solution idea might work.

As such, I found the latest online download for KB905474 on the Microsoft
web site; downloaded that to C: and then ran it.

That seemed to install fine and so then I rebooted. All appeared OK. The
other download, which was trying to install the same thing must have
cancelled itself.

I checked by manually running Microsoft Updates again - KB905474 was no
longer there and the update history confirmed a successful installation.
