My mother has the same issue. I found this thread from Google and was
so grateful!! She did not, however, have the Windows update mentioned.
I uninstalled 2 others that were installed the day the problem
happened, but as you stated, this did not resolve the issue.
She does have an Acer computer. How do I uninstall Acer Disktop
Utilities? I did not see this anywhere. Any help appreciated, Mom is
alone, is 74, and the highpoints of her days are listening to her old
cd's on the computer and playing pogo cards with everyone.
