Add and removes

What I know about computors i have self taught. i am trying to clean up the
computor to make it less sluggish. i have noticed on the add and remove that
I have a number of Security updates for windows internet explorer update
ranging from 10/01/2007 - present time. Also security updates for Windows XP
from 4/09/06 until present time.
Is it safe for me to delete all but the present updates ? and it won't
affect any programmes.

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when
posting to this newsgroup.

The presence of those updates in Add/Remove Programs has nothing whatsoever
to do with any sluggish behavior you may be seeing.
