Video Drivers

When starting up a computer game on my Windows XP, I get this notification:

Your 3D accelerator and/or your video card could not be initialized
properly. Please update thed rivers for your 3D abd/or video card. COntact
your manufactuer to obtain the lastest drivers.

I have downloaded various updates, but it still does not work. Does anyone
have any advice or suggestions?
