outlook express 6 says emails I send are spam

outlook express says emails I am replying to are spam. I'm not spamming, just
replying to an email. My server says this is Microsoft and not them.

It appears your Anti Virus / Spam Filtering software is marking some of your
received emails as SPAM or your ISP is marking some of the messages as SPAM.
Some ISPs have spam filters.

Whatever it is, and wherever it is, something other than MS is marking your
incoming emails as SPAM.

Angela, this has nothing to do with Windows Update.

The error is not stating anything about Microsoft or Outlook Express. The
message is coming from your ISP's (charter.net) mail server and states that
they're seeing the message in question as spam. Do as the error suggests
and "visit http://www.charter.com/postmaster" where you'll find the
following:

I have had this same issue with chater, they use a 3rd Party Spam filtering
service (that is VERY picky) to scan all OUTBOUND mail. The most likley
reason is that you have outlook set to format messages as HTML instead of
"plain text".

To test the mail server try this :

1 open a CMD propmt
2 enter "telnet smtp.charter.net 25"
3 enter "helo"
4 enter "mail from:<youraccount>@charter.net"
5 enter "rcpt to:<valid email address>"
6 enter "DATA"
7 enter "this is a test message please ignore it"
8 enter "."

the mail server should repond with
250 Message received: .....

enter "QUIT" and close the CMD window.

If the mail server came back with a 250 instead of 550 error message then
you mail format is the problem. Try changeing you outlook mail format
setting and you problem will magicly go away.

If you got the 550 message then contact "postmaster@charter.net" and request
the target email address be un-blocked.
