Error Code 0x80070643

I have Windows XP SP3 (Media Center Edition) on a Dell Inspiron 1505. I have
made several attempts to download Windows Live Mail but have invariably come
across error code 0x80070643. Come to think of it, I have also not been
receiving for some time the Windows updates although I have set it at
receiving them automatically. This might also be due to the above error.
Could some one please help?
I may add that although I have been using a computer for the last 9 years, I
am still a novice as far as technical sides of hardware or software are
concerned.

You'll find support for Windows Live Mail (WLM) in this public newsgroup:

Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com | click on Update History in
left-pane | What were the last 3 updates installed and when were they
installed?
