I had the same problem myself and this is what I did and it worked for
me.
1.- Google the web site, "system update readiness tool for windows
vista".
2.- Once google finds site go for the very first option "description
of the system update readiness tool for windows vista"
3.- Scroll down until you see "download the windows vista package
now".
4.- When window opens click on download and follow instructions on
how to download the program and everything should be cool after that.
