ntosknrl.exe error

I just installed the new service pack 3 update, and now when i try to start
my laptop i get this error message..
' Windows could not start because the following file is mising or corrupt..
<Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Please reinstall a copy of the above file '
I have tried to do a system restore but that didnt work.. what can i do?
