To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Also: Do not edit the subject
in your replies either. Thank you.
Still confused here. What does "I have recently updated to XP Pro x64" mean
exactly? Possibilities include:
• You just got a new computer that came with WinXP Pro x64 preinstalled;
or...
• You just upgraded a computer that was running, e.g., WinXP (Home) to
WinXP Pro x64 SP2; or...
• You just got a new computer that came with, e.g., Vista Ultimate x64
preinstalled and you've attempted to downgrade to WinXP Pro x64 SP2.
Other questions:
• Right-click on My Computer | select Properties: What Windows version
is displayed on the resulting General tab (e.g., Windows XP Professional
Edition...Service Pack 2)?
• Start | Settings | Control Panel | Security Center: What status is
reported for (a) Automatic Updates; (b) Firewall; and (c) Anti-Virus?
• What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?
PS: If you're in the armed forces and on a tour of duty in Afghanistan:
THANK YOU, GOD BLESS & HOPE YOU COME HOME SAFE & SOON!!
