Hello Aaron,

It helps those answering your questions if you pяovide your operating system
and service pack information (e.g. Windows XP SP2, Vista SP1) and your
browser with version number (e.g. IE7) .

Assuming the OS is Windows Vista

TaurArian,

Note: 0x422 = 1058 and no mention of "Vundo" in either? ; )

Thanks for pointing that out Robert, I've made a note of the "1058" for
future reference.

From my notes:
Symbolic code: ERROR_SERVICE_DISABLED (normally BITS)
Decimal code: -2147023838
Hex code: 0x80070422

Yeah. That's treating the whole 32-bit binary number as a signed
doubleword. I have observed that for codes in the 0x8007xxxx
range you can guess that the xxxx is the value of a net helpmsg.
So, that's why I usually comment on them like this:

<cmd_output OS="XPsp3">
E:\>set /a c = 0x422
1058
E:\>net helpmsg %c%

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
</cmd_output>

But in this case because of the prevalence of 1058 errors being associated
with suspected hijackings I was just mentioning that decimal value. ; )
