windows update

I am new to this, so bear with me.I am trying to download Norton 2009
antivirus that I bought online.Well, when I tried to download it, it said
that I needed a Windows Service Pack 2 on my computer.I tried to download it,
but I got a message that I needed the first one, which I don't have.Any
suggestions?I bought the Norton & don't want to waste $39.99, if I can't
download it.

OTOH & seeing as you've neglected to install WinXP SP2 and all post-SP2
critical security updates for well over four (4) years now, you may be
better off doing a format & clean install of WinXP, then seeing the above
link.
