Error 1058 Fixed - Thank You, Thank You

After a couple of days of back and forth with anti-spyware and messing with
MS Services, the answer was found among the recent posts in this thread.

I wish to thank its members and any MS helpers for this.

Repeating the solution to the issue when Windows Updates get turned off and
cannot be turned back on, no matter what (this is for Win XP Pro SP3), a
superior free antispyware is available at:

which did the job!

Better than AdAware, SpyBot or Trend Micro, all of which removed stuff but
failed to completely clean out the dreaded Vundo malware and all its
tentacles.
