Error code 80070490

Hello all,
This is my first message in this forum to say hello, and also wish everyone a great festive period and 2009.

I also have a problem when trying to search for Windows Ultimate Update: I keep getting Error code 80070490 and seem to mis out on updates.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hi Jard, welcome to the NGs. As for your error what I've found -
0x80070490 - ERROR_NOT_FOUND
Corrupted System File;

Ignore the title : Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows
Vista may stop responding

Tells you about SFC

Hopefully doing the SFC may rectify the problem for you.

SFC was not able to sort things out, though, as it did not recognize a needed log-file. I will not despair and persevere trying .
