Thanks Pa Bear for your response. The site you gave gives info for XP that
has been reloaded from the CD. I didn't use my disc to reload. I did a
destructive removal and reloaded right from my hard drive. Now, I went to
Windows Update to see what Updates I needed, and was told I needed an update
for Windows Update to be able to get that information. I downloaded the
recommended update and it seems that my problem has been solved. My updates
have been downloaded, and I was alerted so I could install them just the way
I have it set up. Will see if this lasts.
