Addendum: I just downloaded and installed the November updates on my laptop.
All was well after rebooting. But on the second or third reboot, the update
icon appeared; it's for the same update Notan reported. I checked Add/Remove
Programs, and this update shows up there. I guess I'll take my own advice
and see what happens tomorrow...
