Internet Explorer cannot open my hotmail/the internet webside

Everytime I try to open my hotmail I receive this message: Internet Explorer
cannot open the internet webside....
But when I then try to go back and forth between closing and opening windows
firewall I then finitely succeed in entering...this occurred after som new
updates from windows Live...
Can it be windows firewall intereferring with my Norton firewall or the
other way around...?

Possibly, but in any case, what has this to do with Windows Updates?

Aside from Gordon's response, try resetting the security settings in IE to
their defaults.
