Q1: Is a 3rd party firewall being used ?
Q2: What is the installed antivirus/security software ?
Try another visit to WU | MU. When the system fails to update, close IE.
Open the WindowsUpdate.log located in WINDOWS by going to
Start > Run > type in the below and then click OK or press Enter
%windir%\windowsupdate.log
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the log.
Copy and paste the last 50 or so lines into your reply, please.
If there are no FATAL or WARNING entries in the last 50 lines, keep
scrolling up in the log until you locate them. That should give us a
tipoff on what's causing the issue.
