Updating to SP3

Is there any really good reason to update to SP3. I have been waiting
for months to see if I see something that tells me it's a good thing and
there are no more serious flaws. But, all I keep seeing are people
posting about problems. Are any of the benefits so good that they
outweigh the potential problems????

Thanks for your input.

Re: Updating to SP3
Here are 2 very good reasons to install WinXP SP3:

1. The free installation and compatibility support from MS is only available
until April 2009. After that, such support could cost you $500 USD per hour
or more.

2. If you don't have SP3 installed by April 2010, no further critical
security updates will be offered to the machine.

http://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldron...tallation.aspx

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...spx?gprid=1173 | select "Windows
XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3"

Re: Updating to SP3

Thanks PA Bear, both sound like good reasons.

What if I have to do a restore to a point prior to my SP 3 download
because of some other issue?
