Error 1058 and Error Number 0x8DDD0018
Recently I have been facing problems with my Window Automatic Updates. It
seems that it is impossible to update due to these two errors. When I click
on Windows Update taht proceeded to the Microsoft Window Update webpage that
analyse my computer for suitable updates but i encountered Error Number
0x8DDD0018. I followed the instructions that asked me to go to services.msc.
Followed the instructions but encounter error 1058 when I tried to put my
Startup Type for Automatic Update as Automatic. Plese Help!

Hello Izwan,

To add to Diana's excellent comments--

See if the solution in this thread helps. (probably Vundo)

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windowsupdate&p=1&tid=94d23 0a5-48a2-43a1-b43c-7a94d5db023d&mid=94d230a5-48a2-43a1-b43c-7a94d5db023d>

Re: Error 1058 and Error Number 0x8DDD0018
There's a very strong possibility that you have a Vundo infection, which is
usually accompanied by ZLOB and/or SDBot infections, all of which are
protected by a rootkit.

Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

Checking for/Help with Hijackware

http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm

http://defendingyourmachine2.blogspot.com/
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachi...php?board=10.0,
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Hmmm, Thanks Diana but this does not help me because both my Background
Intelligent and Automatic updates services are both present. It is only that
I cannot start my AU due to error 1058
