WindowsXP SP3 Update

Dual boot Windows XP SP3 and Server 20903 ... Microsoft Wireless mouse and
keyboard (USB).

For the last week when I restart XP there is a flag on the "Turn Off" icon
telling me that there are updates. If I select it it shows me that update 1
of 1 is being installed and then powers off. If I then power on again the
keyboard and mouse are present during boot and system select (multi boot
option) and then disabled. After XP loads neither the mouse nor keyboard is
available.

My workaround is to connect a wired mouse, do the cold start, then select a
restart, and when it comes up form a warm start the mouse and keyboard are
recognized.

Any help would be VERY greatly appreciated.
