windows XP SP3 windows update issue
Hello, before i updated to XP Pro SP 3 i was using SP2, but windows update
worked but still had issues. if i would select more then 60 updates at a time
to install after the updates download all of them would fail to install. if i
selected 60 or less updates all of them would download and install just fine.
now after i installed XP Pro SP3 windows update will download but the
install always fails, no matter if i select 1 update at a time or not. so i
had to manually download the updates and install them myself and they
installed fine that way.
even if i turned on auto updates in SP3 the updates would still fail to
install, but will download fine.
i dont know why this is going on, windows updates also dont show me a error
code to help me find out what is going on. at least in XP Pro SP2 i could get
the updates to install if i selected 60 or less updates at a time, windows
update in XP Pro SP3 is useless cause the updates always fail to install.
a friend told me that windows update is all screwed up and wont handle more
then a sertian ammount of updates at a time. but whats up with SP3

RE: windows XP SP3 windows update issue
Hello Frank,
Try this:
Search for and delete all files "*.tmp"
Search for all files "temp" Delete the contents of them, do NOT delete the
folder.
Go to Control Panel
Click Internet Options
Click "Delete Cookies", click OK, may take a few minutes
Click "Delete Files"
Check "Delete all offline content" click OK, may take a few minutes
Click "Clear History" click Yes, may also take a few minutes
Perform Disk Cleanup checking all boxes except "Compress old files"
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Clean-up

RE: windows XP SP3 windows update issue
Thankyou very much
the Dial-ª-Fix worked like a charm, i tried all before that (the WGAdiagnose
test there was 2 issues, i got them fixed and it still didnt help) and it
didnt seem to solve the issues, but Dial-ª-Fix fixed the issues, i can now
download and install updates from windows update.
Again thanks allot

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

Re: windows XP SP3 windows update issue
thanks PA Bear [MS MVP]
i already tried that before i posted the issue here but it didnt work or
help, also that the fact i was getting no error code when they failed to
install which left me lost on how to correct it that is why i went to that
support page before i came here, they did download fine but failed to install.
but the issue is solved with that dial-a-fix program. and now i can use
windows update to install the updates.
since i am running XP Pro SP3 now there isnt that many updates like there is
with a new install of XP Pro SP2, (with a new install of XP Pro SP2) if you
select to many updates with windows update like more then 60 at a time the
downloaded updates will fail (but download fine), if you select 60 or less
then all of the updates will install fine. since i am running SP3 i cant test
to see if that dial-a-fix solves that issue.
Thanks Again
Frank
