Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330)

I have installed this 3 times but had to remove it each time as it creates me
a blank screen. The only thing I get is the mouse pointer showing on screen.
I have to restart in safe mode and go back to a date when service pack one
not installed. I am now considering not installing this at all. Will this
create me further problems on future updates if I do not install it and if I
do how do I get it to work without causing me a blank screen where nothing
works?

Are you attempting to install Vista SP1 manually or via Windows Update?
