unable to browse web after installing kb958644 onto windows server2003

I am unable to browse the web (in either IE or Firefox) on 2 different
servers after this update was installed!

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., Win2003 SP2) when posting to
this newsgroup, please.

Is KB958644 the only update that you'd just installed? Does uninstalling it
resolve the behavior?

nevermind, turns out there was an update done to my AV software that
had not taken effect yet, (since it needed to reboot) and when the
system did, it implemented the update, and broke my browsing
capability.

Hi

I have exactly the same problem.

After installing KB958644, no browsing capability. Numerous reboots and
messing around.

Running Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition SP2, AVG Anti Virus, Intel
Quad Core, 4GB Ram.

IIS is still delivering web site no problem.

Any help or thoughts appreciated?

Following my last post, I have now uninstalled KB958644 and I still
cannot browse.

Then KB958644 wasn't causing the problem to begin with.

Hi,
same issue for me on two different servers:
Windows server 2003 SBS SP2 and Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP2
No issue on Windows 2003 server R2 SP2

The problem remains unfixed even after the patch uninstallation.

Please help me asap... Thanks a lot

Hi

Problem sorted, it was an issue with the latest update on AVG Anti
Virus.

As it happened, the windows update and AVG update must happened at the
same
time.

I presumed it was the Microsoft update which screwed things up
(apologies
Microsoft!).

The AVG support page had a small fix:-
