decided to uninstall SP3 and then run a fix with SP2. It works well with my
plan and I managed to get rid of the slow start up or boot up to logon page.
3) After fixed it with SP2 cd, I try to update it online but it only allow
me to download all the update files but it failed to install it.

But not with one described in this very thread. So it would have been
a good idea to start your own thread on the issue you ran into - in
case the search function wouldn't have helped.

You may want to type "regsvr32 wups2.dll" into "Run" in the Start
menu and hit the [Enter] key or klick on OK. Afterwards restart
the Automatic Updates *services* (Start -> Run -> services.msc [Enter])
or restart Windows as a whole and see, if the issue is still present.

Bye,
Freudi

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation
