Automatic updates

Im getting the red shield with the "x" through it on my tool bar. It says
automatic upates is turned off and to turn them on. I've tired numerious
ammounts of times to turn it on, but it wont work. I recieve an errorthrough
the secuirty center saying that I have to manually set it on. The windows
update website also gives me errors to turn it on. So I go through control
panel, to admin. tools, services, then set automatic updates on, but it gives
me an error when I try to hit start. How do I get the automatic updates to
turn back on?

Hello Daniel,

You may have a virus.

Ensure you do not have "Vundo".

There's a very strong possibility that you have a Vundo infection, which is
usually accompanied by ZLOB and/or SDBot infections, all of which are
protected by a rootkit.

Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
