something thats always bewildered me !!!
can you please tell me why i get updates for service pack 1 when i am on
service pack 3. this does not seem logical unless each service pack does not
override eachother. please advise thanks

How do you know that the updates are not meant for XP SP3, too ? Please
provide the KB numbers or the names of the updates that you think are
intended for SP1 *only*.
Each SP is cumulative, eg. *usually* includes the fixes/updates of the
previous SP.

Please read what updates you are getting carefully. Windows (the operating
system) is not the only product on your machine that may get updates from
Microsoft Updates (if you have Office, etc) and the Service Packs for Office
do not match up withe the service packs for Windows... ;-)

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3) when posting to
this newsgroup, please.

For what applications are these Service Pack 1 updates (e.g., Office 2007)?
Cite one or more KB numbers associated with these updates.
