sp3
My windows XP automatically downloaded sp3. I accepted installation. Upon
restarting my laptop, the computer quickly went thru saving personal settings
for I.E. 6 and Outlook but it stalled forever at saving personal settings for
"desktop"! after I completely gave up on it, I restarted the computer again.
It started ok and gave no error messages. How do I know that the sp3
installation was successful and complete? (though the general info of the
system properties menu identifies the system as sp3) Help please. Thanks.

Start | Run | (type) winver| OK

[It's not unusual for the complete installation of WinXP SP3 to take 2 or
more hours, Ghada, especially if it's being installed via Automatic
Updates.]

WinXP SP3 - Read all prerequisites for a successful installation
http://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldron...tallation.aspx

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/def...spx?gprid=1173 | select "Windows
XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3"
