Unable to install Windows Updates

When I try to update my computer using Windows Update, the updates will
download but not install. I get a message that states: "A problem on your
computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed."



I am running Windows XP.

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation
