Funny, I may have had a similar problem. I cannot verify if it was Windows
Updates or a problem with a Sleep Mode-nVidia conflict (this has apparently
caused people problems). I just find it a coincidence that my computer
crashed on 9/9/08, the day several updates were released. I cannot remember
if I ever installed the updates though. I sent a message to Windows Support
about this and I will post a message here when I get a response. My symptoms
were:
1. Computer came out of sleep mode totally frozen (could not even
CTRL+ALT+DEL).
2. Had to manually kill the power.
3. On start-up, I recieved a message that said "Operating System Not Found"
4. Reinstalled Windows Vista via HP Recovery and so far, so good.
I am reluctant to install Windows Updates until I know that there is no way
in hell this is what caused my crash. I think I will cry if my computer
crashes again!
