This is not the first time that a Driver update provided by the Microsoft
Update process has not been needed for the ATI 4379 ATA Storage Controller;
happened this time last year as well. Have hidden the MS update as suggested
in another post on this site, but, I still get the panel at startup wanting
me to download the required driver, which I keep replying to that I don't
want to be advised, or, remind me later, neither works to delete this
annoying bootup message ! Present driver by the way that works is:
1.3.71.1, dated 8/19/08. This driver problem however creates a No Bootup
situation as the computer [Acer 5100-5540] always wants to go into the Repair
Mode if it's been shutdown !! Problem does not exist if I just do a Restart
!!
...........any help is appreciated; tired of going thru the Repair or Restore
functions to get the thing fired up !!....thanks: Doug.
