I am getting the error for the past couple months when I try to visit windows
update.

It takes a few minutes of sitting there before the error page pops up. I

Who's suggestions and what were they ?
Do you mean these...

Error that you see in the upper-right corner when you visit the Windows
Update Web site on a Windows XP-based computer: "[Error number: 0x8DDD0004]"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914224
or,
Error message when you scan for updates on a Windows XP Service Pack
2-based computer: "Error number: 0x8DDD0004"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914227

So, is this XP and what Service Pack level is it now at ?
What is the installed antivirus/security suite ?

Re: error 0x8DDD0004
Once more ... did the error page show the links to the 2 MSKBs as the
ones included in my previous post or did it have the same steps as the 2
MSKB articles ? Though both refer to SP2 they also apply to SP3.
Also:

>>>What is the installed antivirus/security suite ?
