Error number: 0x8024D00C

Hi, everytime I go to the windows update page it starts scanning for updates
and then stops with the following:

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

Error number: 0x8024D00C

I've tried all the listed ways after that to fix the problem and none of
them have worked.
Now I just finished re-formattin this computer with Windows Xp Home Addition
SP1 (it's the only versions I have) ater getting a Blue Screen of Death. I
really need this computer up and running for school. Can anyone help me
please?

1. Download & save the installer for WinXP SP3 to your desktop:

[Yes, you can skip SP2.]

2. Read & heed:

3. Logged in as Administrator, if necessary, double-click on the saved file
to install WinXP SP3. Follow all prompts, be patient, and then reboot
twice.

4. Do Resolution Method 2 here (trust me):

5. Go to Windows Update | Select CUSTOM and scan | Install any critical
security updates offered. Again, follow all prompts.

[I do NOT recommend installing IE7 via Windows Update.]

6. Make certain that Automatic Updates is enabled; cf.
