Multiple msiexec.exe on TS for no reason...
Hi
Our Terminal Server (Win2003 Std SP2) is having some problem with msiexec.exe
1, 2 and sometime 3 instances of msiexec.exe is showing up for no rason at
all.
they're consuming all resources making the whole server slow
Even immediately after a restart they can show up.
"automatic updates" are disabled
They are all running under "system" account.
when I'm running Windows update an instance of msiexec.exe under the
Administrator account is showing up at the moment of installation, I'm
finding this to be the correct behaivour.
I can manually end these extra processes of msiexec.exe and that is makes
the server speed up, but the strange msiexec.exe can then be back after
minutes or hours or even days.
They can also self -terminate or just lower the cpu usage to 00 and remain
in the list for long periods.
Anyone knowing what can cause this and what to do to solve it.
