error codes 80080005 and 0X800703F0

It might be coincidental, but ever since my Vista-equipped HP computer did an
update just prior to the SP1 release, I have been unable to search for
Windows and Office updates. It's not that I can't install them, I can't even
search for them, getting error code 80080005. I believe I tried all of the
recommended fixes, but can't get it to work. I manually downloaded SP1
thinking that might fix the problem, but can't install that, getting error
code 0X800703F0. Anyone who has had this problem and has been able to fix it,
please help.

I have exactly the same probleme since march 18 2008.
did you find a solution?

Run command prompt ( CMD ) as administrator >

type: regsvr32 wintrust.dll and hit ENTER
type: regsvr32 rsaenh.dll and hit ENTER
type: regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll and hit ENTER
type: regsvr32 softpub.dll and hit ENTER

Hi -
Did anyone ever figure out this issue? I've tried lots of things including
registering the dlls as listed on this post - but I still can't run windows
update, can't install IE8 etc...
Driving me nuts - any more ideas or things to try would be appreciated.

Even if your symptoms are the same as the OP you need to get more
details if anybody is to help you.

For example, here is all that we can tell you about the second code:
